Stereolab - Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements
On February 28, 2025, Stereolab are making seven of their studio albums available again as 2LP editions. These utilise the same remasters as the 2019 expanded album editions, cut from the original 1/2" tapes by Bo Kondren at Calyx Mastering and overseen by Tim Gane, but without any of the bonus material from the 3LP versions (which have now been discontinued), the idea being to make more cost-effective versions of these sought after titles available to fans and shops. Each record comes housed in a single 5mm printed sleeve with printed inner sleeves, and a protective PVC outer bag. Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements is the second studio album by Stereolab and was originally released in 1993.

The fifth installment in the ‘LP on LP’ vinyl ... Moreseries showcases “Twist” and “Stash” from the opening night of two Nassau Coliseum shows. Nassau hosted the first of two, two-night engagements that comprised Phish’s Island Tour - an impromptu live excursion on Long Island and Rhode Island that arose during ‘The Story of the Ghost’ pre-production sessions in Vermont. On side A is the deep-space Island “Twist” from set II that explored intergalactic territory with a bass nod to Star Trek. Side B’s “Stash” from set I also went deep with a beautiful, sometimes dark jam that erupted into staccato melody and an ambient outro. Together these two tracks capture the exploratory feel of the Island Tour shows. ‘LP on LP’ 05 was recorded by Paul Languedoc and mixed from the multitrack masters by Vance Powell. Less
Chrome Dreams is another of Neil Young’s legenda... Morery “lost” albums; finished albums that for various reasons Neil decided not to release at the time. The recent releases of Homegrown and Toast also fall into this category. Chrome Dreams features 12 songs recorded between 1974 and 1977. If the album was released in 1977 as originally planned, it would certainly be considered as one of the masterpieces in Neil’s long career.
The album contains some of Neil’s most iconic songs: “Pocahontas”, “Like A Hurricane”, “Powderfinger”, Homegrown”, “Too Far Gone” and “Star of Bethlehem”. Most of the tracks were subsequently released on later Neil Young albums (e.g.: American Stars ‘N’ Bars, Hawks & Doves, Hitchiker, Archives Vol II), although Chrome Dreams includes unreleased versions of two much loved songs: “Sedan Delivery” and “Hold Back The Tears”.
