Michael Nesmith - Pretty Much Your Standard Ranch Stash
7A Records are proud to announce the 50th Anniversary Edition of Michael Nesmith's "Pretty Much Your Standard Ranch Stash" album. The LP version is pressed on 180g opaque grey vinyl and comes in a gatefold sleeve, includes extensive liner notes and session details by Andrew Sandoval and lyrics to all of the songs. Also included is a bonus track, the 1973 alternate version of "Marie's Theme". Nesmith's time with the Monkees was well and truly in the rear-view mirror and he needed a new place to live and work. He caught the ear of Jac Holzman, head of Elektra Records, and a path forward miraculously appeared. Realising that most of the record companies at the time didn't understand Country Rock, Nesmith convinced Holzman to start a new label, Countryside. Nesmith would run the label, put together a 'house band' and produce albums by various up and coming country artists. Unfortunately, most of the new label's releases didn't make much of an impression and Nesmith soon started to contemplate his own music again. Aided by the power of his Countryside house band, he quickly crafted Pretty Much Your Standard Ranch Stash, a full and final RCA album. Despite it's commercial sheen, Ranch Stash wasn't a success sales-wise and it became the closing remark to a heavy chapter in Nesmith's life, a final "adios" to Monkee Mike, to the cosmic cowboy, and to his family, as he moved further on up the trail.
Originally released in 1991, Holidays In Eden was ... MoreMarillion’s sixth studio album and second with Steve Hogarth on lead vocals. This version contains the brand-new 2022 stereo remix by Stephen W Tayler, released on the deluxe editions back in September. Their previous album and first with Hogarth, Season’s End, was written fairly quickly, leaning on a large amount of material already being written prior to Hogarth’s arrival. Holidays In Eden brought about a different challenge to the band’s new line-up, having to start from scratch with this new dynamic. The band faced their greatest commercial pressure yet from EMI, who wanted a couple radio-friendly singles. It set the path for pop-friendly Chris Neil to produce the album, who still desired, along with the band, for the rest of the album to be quintessentially Marillion. Holidays In Eden is a scintillating, compelling rock album, with tracks such as The Party and This Town effortlessly accompanying singles like No-One Can and Dry Land. Less
Originally released in 2002, Divine Discontent is ... Morethe fourth album from Sixpence None The Richer, the follow-up to their highly successful self-titled album.
Lead singer Leigh Nash has described her understanding of the album title as being that "sometimes your pain and the bad things you go through in life can be good if they bring you to a better place, a stronger place in your life," that is, "discontent can be divine."Lead songwriter Matt Slocum said that there is "spiritual content" in many of his songs which come from "trying to be honest about the issues of life," while adding that "it also comes more in the form of asking questions than giving answers."The cover of Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over" was one of the later songs to be selected for the album. Which went on to go Top 10 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 Chart. Less

John McCauley, III wrote, arranged, played, and re... Morecorded the album at the tender age of 21. The album is full of songs wiser and more nuanced than John should have been able to produce according to natural law. The words are deliberate and heartfelt, and follow the lead of singer/songwriter heroes of John’s like Townes van Zandt, Neil Young and Richie Valens. And the album concludes with a cover of the 1962 GRAMMYⓇ winning Song of the Year "What Kind of Fool Am I" made famous by Sammy Davis, Jr.It can safely be said that this debut album is a genre defying classic; it’s a hook filled barroom rock album that is as connected to 90’s Seattle catchy gloom as it is to left-of-the-dial late 80’s Minneapolis and 70’s Austin honky tonk. This version of the album finds us returning to the original ’07 illustrated cover. This cover will become the new standard version of the album across all formats. The music and track listing remains the same. This limited edition of 2000 LPs is being pressed on Heavy Metal Grey vinyl (gun metal grey). Less
Buffalo Tom (Bill Janovitz, Chris Colbourn and Tom... More Maginnis) formed at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1984 - a breeding ground of post punk guitar bands like Dinosaur Jr. and Pixies. The three longstanding bandmates recognize the achievement of their longevity as a creative unit. We are happy to have these three records in print on black vinyl. Released in 1990, songs from Birdbrain have become live favorites including the epic title track and “Enemy”. In 1992 the band recorded their third album Let Me Come Over with a varied group of songs they had been developing at home and on the road - mixing their live power trio sound with some more acoustic based guitar ballads. The album’s single “Taillights Fade” became their signature song. Released in 1993, Big Red Letter Day found the band doing what they do very well indeed, but with more body and gloss to the production. The album was recorded in LA by The Robb Brothers and features numerous favorites, in particular: “Sodajerk”, “I’m Allowed”, “Treehouse” and the classic “Late At Night.” Less

Songs that are play-on-repeat heart punches? Check. Songs that are poetic and thought-provoking while also being absolute belt-at-the-top-of-your-voice-with-the-windows-down masterpieces? Check. It’s all here. For the past 30 years, Nada Surf has had the same core lineup: Matthew Caws, Daniel Lorca, and Ira Elliot. Moon Mirror, their first for New West Records, was produced by the band and Ian Laughton at Rockfield Studios in Wales. For the recording, Matthew, Daniel, and Ira were joined by their friend and longtime keyboard player Louie Lino. Moon Mirror is a thrilling and moving leap forward for Nada Surf. The songs on the album are true to the human experience—as meaningful and mysterious and sometimes absurd as it is. There’s love, yes, but also grief, deep loneliness, doubt, wonder, and hope.
