Michael Schenker's status as the most exciting guitarist in heavy rock was confirmed, the band were rejuvenated with personnel change as Paul Raymond replaced Danny Peyronel and Leo Lyons, who had produced the band's previous three albums was replaced by Ron Nevison, whose work with Led Zeppelin had impressed and signalled the first in a stellar run of collaborations. An album rich in quality, title track 'Lights Out' offers an urgent portrayal of a dystopian London, dripping with "batons charging... The smell of anarchy". But we’d sort of hit a rough patch, a slump if you will, when every title we pursued was either already taken or just plain unavailable. Then, one night as we were fast asleep, we were awakened by a voice. “If you press it, they will come.” Huh? Press what? Who will come? Then it hit us…could it possibly be true that James Horner’s classic soundtrack to Field of Dreams has not been reissued on vinyl?! We did a little “scouting” around, and sure enough…this record hasn’t been available since its very limited original release back in 1989! So this is a rookie reissue, and quite the phenom at that (just like you, Moonlight Graham!), pressed in green and yellow “cornfield” vinyl, and featuring James Horner’s amazing, spine-tingling score. The Doors were a few months away from stardom in M... Morearch 1967 when they played five sparsely attended shows at a small club in San Francisco called The Matrix. These uninhibited performances would have been fleeting if not for Peter Abram, who co-owned the pizza parlor-turned-nightclub with Jefferson Airplane founder Marty Balin. An avid recordist, Abram taped concerts at The Matrix regularly and his recordings of The Doors, made between March 7-11, 1967, spawned one of the band’s most storied bootlegs. At long last, all known Matrix recordings, sourced entirely from Abram’s original master recordings, will be released on September 8. LIVE AT THE MATRIX 1967: THE ORIGINAL MASTERS will be available on September 8 as a 5-LP ($124.98) set. Production of the vinyl version is limited to 14,000 numbered copies worldwide. Morer’s Day Off) was formed in high school by singer-songwriter Robert Schwartzman, whose list of celebrity connections is long: brother to actor Jason Schwartzman, cousin to actor Nic Cage and director Sofia Coppola, and nephew of Francis Ford Coppola. But it wasn’t just celebrity that turbocharged Rooney’s rise; songs like “Blueside,” “I’m Shakin’,” and “I’m a Terrible Person” blend power pop with British Invasion and punk influences to create a sort of rock and roll classicism in the best sense of the word. That’s why none other than Johnny Ramone selected them for the Ramones tribute album We’re a Happy Family, and why the band were tabbed to tour with such cult faves as Weezer, The Strokes, and The Donnas (they also appeared as themselves in the first season of The O.C.). That’s also why their 2003 self-titled debut (produced by Jimmy Iovine among others) sold a cool half million copies…but somehow it’s never been out on LP.
