Drawing on such crazed rockabilly ancestors as Charlie Feathers, Hasil Adkins, and The Killer himself, James (Reverend Horton) Heath and his long-time bassist Jimbo Wallace have, over the course of the last 30-plus years, helped bring rockabilly kicking and screaming into the modern age, marrying punk with rockabilly to create the psychobilly genre. On the 1982 Mob Rules U.S. tour, they decided to record shows to create the first official Black Sabbath live album. With material drawn evenly between songs written with Ronnie as well as older classics such as “War Pigs” and “Iron Man,” when Live Evil was released at the end of 1982, it represented an accurate and powerful memento of Black Sabbath Mk2 on their second world tour. Although it was hailed by influential heavy metal magazine Kerrang! as “one of the greatest live albums of all time” in 1983, the band was never completely satisfied with the original mix. Now we are able to present a fresh, new 40th anniversary mix of the entire album, remixed from the original analog multi tracks by longtime associate of the band, Wyn Davis. Then it hit us…could it possibly be true that James Horner’s classic soundtrack to Field of Dreams has not been reissued on vinyl?! We did a little “scouting” around, and sure enough…this record hasn’t been available since its very limited original release back in 1989! So this is a rookie reissue, and quite the phenom at that (just like you, Moonlight Graham!), pressed in green and yellow “cornfield” vinyl, and featuring James Horner’s amazing, spine-tingling score. Rooney (named after the principal in Ferris Buelle... Morer’s Day Off) was formed in high school by singer-songwriter Robert Schwartzman, whose list of celebrity connections is long: brother to actor Jason Schwartzman, cousin to actor Nic Cage and director Sofia Coppola, and nephew of Francis Ford Coppola. But it wasn’t just celebrity that turbocharged Rooney’s rise; songs like “Blueside,” “I’m Shakin’,” and “I’m a Terrible Person” blend power pop with British Invasion and punk influences to create a sort of rock and roll classicism in the best sense of the word.
