Newly remastered from the original tapes, Sleepwal... Moreker is the 16th studio album by The Kinks and the first under a new deal with Arista Records, following their departure from RCA Records. Recording for the album began during the long hot summer of 1976 at the band's KONK Studio in London. Released in February 1977, the album marked a significant shift for the band, as it moved away from the conceptual work that had characterized their early `70s output toward a return to a more conventional, mainstream rock n' roll sound with contemporary, polished production and a focus on accessible melodic rock. The new approach marked a commercial resurgence for the band, especially in the US, where the album reached #21 on the Billboard 200. Critics praised the straightforward rock sound and Ray Davies's signature songwriting, wit and observational style. Available on 180g black vinyl. Less

On his new album, BEFORE AND AFTER, Young has appr... Moreoached a totally eclectic collection of mostly obscure songs like a painter with a new palette. Picking from a vast array of his originals, Young chooses favorites from his playbook like a trip into his music history and performs them mostly alone, taking a solo acoustic journey to a new place. Each of the songs blend and create one continuous flow, clocking in at a 48-minute pure and intimate listening experience. Produced by Lou Adler and Neil Young and mixed by Young and Niko Bolas, aka The Volume Dealers, this is unlike any other album he has released to date. - Young describes BEFORE AND AFTER succinctly: "The feeling is captured, not in pieces, but as a whole piece - designed to be listened to that way. This music presentation defies shuffling, digital organization, separation. Only for listening. That says it all". - New versions of the songs themselves seamlessly move and morph with mesmerizing clarity, beginning with his earliest Buffalo Springfield appearance, "Burned," to the recent "Don't Forget Love" (from 2021's BARN) and including the previously unreleased song "If You Got Love". Real Estate’s sixth full-length album Daniel was... More recorded in an ebullient nine-day spree in RCA Studio A, in Nashville with celebrated producer and songwriter Daniel Tashian. In 11 compulsively tuneful songs, they connect the uninhibited wonder of their earliest work with the earned perspective of adulthood. Martin Courtney actually learned of Tashian through his daughter, who adored an album he’d produced, Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour. The band reached out and spotted an instant connection despite their distinct wheelhouses—the Grammy-winning Nashville country-pop guy who’d helmed several smashes and the Northeast indie rock quintet with narcotic guitars. Real Estate had been thinking about R.E.M.’s Automatic for the People and ’90s “soft-rock radio,” the background music of their youth. Tashian helped lead them back toward it, toward an improved edition of the less self-conscious band they’d been at the start. Several days into recording, all five members of Real Estate were discussing album titles when someone suggested “Daniel,” simply because it seemed funny to bestow a human name upon a record. Was it for Daniel Tashian? Maybe. Was it a nod to The Replacements’ Tim? Possibly. Was it the sign of a band that has now been around long enough to take its music seriously without taking itself or its perception too seriously? Absolutely. Less

SKA DREAM is a complete re-recording of Jeff Rosen... Morestock's critically-acclaimed 2020 record NO DREAM however this time around all the songs are ska songs you're welcome. The very good idea to make this record came together when, like many other bands throughout this pandemic that refused to participate in super spreading events, we were trying to find a fun way to make some music together to share with people. Otherwise we were just spending our evenings texting the group chat in dread about the collapsing world around us. Not the most fun band activity. As with most things ska in my life, what started out as a fun goof with friends eventually morphed into "Hey, what if we tried to make it good though?" All of us have a pretty deep history playing and touring the country in punk/ska bands. We all understand the stigma that comes along with ska, we've all dealt with the pitfalls of it, and we've all kept on truckin' regardless. If you are one of those people who loves music as long as it isn't ska, that's cool, we see you. This record isn't for you and you don't have to listen to it. Byeeee.Okay, everyone else, we see you too, we love you and check it out, SKA DREAM is real. Less

Otis Redding Sings Soul is the third album by soul... More singer Otis Redding and is considered by many critics to be Redding's first great album. Recorded in April and July of 1965, it was released September 15th of that same year. Otis Blue includes covers of three songs by Sam Cooke, Redding's idol, who died the previous December in 1964. Their styles couldn't have been more different; Cooke smooth and sure, Redding raw and pleading. But Redding's versions of "Shake" and "A Change Is Gonna Come" show how Cooke's sound and message helped shape Redding's Southern soul sound. Redding's singing reaches a new level of expressiveness with this as well as with covers of B.B. King's "Rock Me Baby" and the Motown hit "My Girl". Less

Moremary Hill EP begins, Sixpence None the Richer's first release since 2012, Leigh Nash sings, "In the eye of the storm, I'm gonna thread the needle." Now three decades after Nash met her musical partner Matt Slocum in New Braunfels, Texas, Sixpence is threading the needle in the sweet spot they have often longed for throughout a stormy yet momentous career. Slocum confesses that two of the six new songs are an attempt to immortalize their hometown: "New Braunfels was an amazing place to grow up... We could roam freely in the streets, from sunup to sundown." Nash adds, "Meeting Matt is the most important thing that happened for me in New Braunfels." That rings true for all of us; New Braunfels, Texas is the birthplace of Sixpence None the Richer, a great American rock 'n' roll band. While Sixpence has been Nashville-based for most of their career, Rosemary Hill reveals they are at heart a Texas band. The title track cites the street Slocum grew up on, as Nash sings Slocum's words, "That was a long time ago - But the feelings, they don't get old - Every time that I come home - I'll be riding, I'll be flying on Rosemary Hill - My Rosemary Hill."
